Marton & Ilias' Wedding
Apart from your own, the most important wedding you will ever attend is the ones of your best friends - especially if they are marrying each other.
And if the honour seeing two such beautiful people committing to each other isn't enough, I had the privilege to create their outfits for their special day.
It was therefore a no-brainer that the shoes of the two grooms of course had to be bespoke MEHER KAKALIA.
Both grooms had very specific ideas for their respective outfits. Both wanted modern takes on traditional clothing from their home countries Hungary and Greece. Floriography (the symbolism of flowers) also played a big role in the detailing.
Marton's Jacket is my take of a hussar jacket with the roping detail resembling an tulip pointing upwards, which is an omen of good luck. We decided that the embroidered MEHER KAKALIA boots would be the perfect accessory to his look.
I dug deep into the archives to find the perfect colour match for the embroidery as well as the leather. I stumbled onto a leather which we call 'crackle' - which is a suede that is painted over completely with a paint creating an eggshell surface through which thin cracks run.
for the embroidery, I decided on the colour 'frost' from out AW24 collection - the perfect shade of grey to match the roping embellishment on his jacket.

Ilias, originally from Greece, was wearing a dramatic olive/gold satin coat with wide pleated raw silk trousers. A combination of elements of the Greek Fustanella and British avant-garde tailoring was executed to perfection was his brief.
Ilias is an avid collector of orchids - Marton actually proposed to Ilias at the orchid exhibition at Kew Gardens - so it made perfect sense to incorporate his beloved flowers into his outfit.
I therefore decided to create a completely new motif especially for him.
The pink pedals of the flowers stand out from the matte beige background. I combined the embroidery with our classic lovato gold leather. This leather has a rather dull-ish gold and does not compete with the embroidery for attention while echoing the sheen of the jacket rather nicely.
